OUR STORY
Our Story
Apollo was founded in 2014 by Boo McNamara — a strength and conditioning coach working with some of Alberta’s top professional hockey players. Between long days on the ice and late nights in the gym, he started sketching ideas that had nothing to do with workouts and everything to do with identity. With $500 and a vision, Boo and his friend Matty began designing hats that quickly made their way through Edmonton’s creative and athletic circles.
What started small grew fast. Apollo collaborated with Oilers Nation, the (then) Edmonton Eskimos, and saw players like Nail Yakupov and Connor McDavid wearing the brand. Brick and mortar followed — first across from Rogers Place, then inside West Edmonton Mall — before the pandemic forced the team to pause and reset.
Boo returned home to Pictou, Nova Scotia, where the next chapter quietly took shape. Enter Ben Murray — a filmmaker and creative with a deep sense for storytelling and design. Together, they began rebuilding Apollo from the ground up — this time as a creative studio disguised as a streetwear brand. The focus shifted toward refined design, cultural storytelling, and community — crafting pieces that carry a sense of place and perspective.
Today, Apollo operates from a small coastal town with a global outlook. We design collections and custom projects for brands and individuals across Canada, blending sport, art, and heritage through thoughtful design.
Apollo isn’t about hype. It’s about creating things that feel lived-in, intentional, and timeless — a reminder that world-class design can come from anywhere, even a small town by the sea.
